IESU Church

The Iesu Church was another chance for architect Rafael Moneo to try his luck in the highly challenging field of religious architecture. This time, however, work was alleviated by the project’s smaller scale and by the wish of the parish priest (Jesús María Zabaleta) that the iconography reflect current esthetic tastes. The church’s uniqueness enlivens the urban scene and strengthens the community thanks too to a supermarket on the premises, a daily meeting point for the people of the Riberas de Loiola neighborhood.
